MLDS November/December News
1)Downtown Old Fashioned Christmas is Friday, November 22nd!
All classes will be performing at the Market Park Pavilion on this day.
All dancers should wear black leggings and our NEW MLDS Sweatshirts – Bring Ballet/Jazz Shoes
All Pre-K and K classes as well as Tumbling A (Monday 5pm) will perform at 5pm.
Please arrive by 4:50pm. Your dancer will sit with you until we call them up to dance.
One parent should pick them up when their dance is finished.
All other classes (Younger Elementary, Older Elementary, Middle School, Teens,
All Competition, and Tumbling B, C, & D) will perform at 5:45pm.
Please arrive by 5:35pm. Dancers will meet Miss Lisa & Staff on the waterwheel side of the pavilion.
2) NO CLASSES THE WEEK OF THANKSGIVING – NOVEMBER 25th – 29th
3) ATHENS CHRISTMAS PARADE IS MONDAY, DECEMBER 2ND

4) All November/December Tuition is due No Later than December 5th
This is the final tuition payment of 2024.
5) Our Christmas Show is Saturday, December 7th
at Townsend Auditorium at Tennessee Wesleyan University
Your $15 show fee is due ASAP if you have not paid it.
This fee allows us to rent the venue.
Admission is free and each dancer is allowed to invite anyone they wish!
All Pre-K and K classes as well as Tumbling A (Monday 5pm Tumbling) will perform at 3pm. Doors open at 2:30pm. Your dancer will sit with you until we call them up. They will remain backstage until the end of the show. One parents will need to pick them up at the stage.
All other classes (Younger Elementary, Older Elementary, Middle School, Teens, All Competition, and Tumbling B, C, & D) will perform at 6pm. Doors open at 5:30pm.

6) We have 2 weeks of class after our Christmas Show.
We will begin work for our Spring Recital and we will also be measuring your dancer for their costume during these 2 weeks. It is VERY IMPORTANT your dancer attend these classes.
(We will also share a Christmas Treat the last lesson😊)
7) NO CLASSES DECEMBER 22nd – JANUARY 4th
Classes Resume January 6th, 7th, and 9th

MLDS Parade Information
On Monday, December 2nd we will participate in the Athens Christmas Parade.
ALL Dancers should wear black leggings or jogging pants and their NEW MLDS Sweatshirt!
Please drop off your dancer at Athens City Middle School Upper Parking Lot at 5:30pm
They do not allow you to drive in, you will need to park nearby and walk your dancer to the upper parking lot.
There may be “elves” helping escort children to the parking area. DO NOT do this, please walk your child up to us yourself!
Please check in with Ms. Tina as soon as you arrive – She will direct you to your child’s chaperone.
Pre-K and K classes will ride on the float. The city does not allow anyone 6 & under to walk. We will have designated adults on the float with each class.
All other classes will march behind the float and have an adult chaperone as well.
For the safety of all: Parents WILL NOT be walking with us.
Our designated adults will have nametags on identifying them as official MLDS chaperones.
You will drop off and pick up your child from the SAME adult so they will know who is picking up the child. All Pre-K, K, and Elementary students will have 2 matching wristbands with the dancer’s name on them, one for the dancer and one for the parent. You must present this wristband to pick up your child!
The parade leaves the middle school on Keith Lane, turns right on W Madison, goes around the courthouse, and back up W Madison.
We will pull over at Keith Church when the route comes back around heading back to the school. WE WILL NOT RETURN TO THE MIDDLE SCHOOL!
Pick up for little ones riding the float will be off the MLDS float that pulls in the side street between Keith Church and Living Heritage Museum. (Thompson St)
Pick up for marchers will be on the front steps of Keith Church.
Please make sure you are present when we arrive at the church. We can not provide care for your child afterward as we have to move the float out of the way.
Please tell Ms. Tina if you will not be participating so we will not be looking for your dancer.
If you have any questions, please ask now, the day of the parade will be too late.
We cannot answer calls or messages when we are taking care of children!
